We thought that it would be good to give you an update of where we are at the moment.

We have gone viral since our last post on the blog and many people across the country have got to know that the first ever student organised teach meet is taking place at Fulford Secondary School in York, planned by the Fulford Digital Leaders.

We have got much of the teach meet sorted out, such as sponsorship, the venue, guest speakers etc. Plus the list of people who have been interested in coming to the event has grown rapidly.

One of the places that you should be checking out is twitter as it has all of the latest updates and websites to go to, to help you register your interest and keep yourself up to date with what’s going on!

The event is looming on the horizon and it will be here before you know it!, so save the date 28th June 2012!

This ‘TeachMeet’ will be unique as it is being organised and run by students (namely the Digital Leaders of Fulford School) with the focus on students speaking at the event and teachers/educators in the audience.

The event will be held at the Fulford School on 28th June 2012.

A little history of our journey as Digital Leaders

Just to give you a little background about us, the Fulford School Digital Leaders:

We are a group of 8 who are tech enthusiasts with one simple aim:

“Aim to advance the use of technology throughout school and use it to enhance learning”.

January 2011

Applied in response to an email application sent through the school system to become Digital Leaders. Interviewed and accepted on to the program .

February 2011 to May 2011

Various mini-projects such as amending and contributing to school website, peer presentations, videoing each other and analysing presenting skills, discovering web 2.0 tools and sharing new tools/skills in the group

June 2011

Co-ordinated, videoed and edited footage of teaching in lessons in school as part of  Fulford’s in-house Outstanding Teaching & Learning Group programme

September 2011

Prepared for and led staff INSET twilight sessions on using Prezi in the classroom

October 2011

Visited Skipton Girls’ High School to observe and provide feedback to Fulford Senior Leadership Team on the use of mobile technology in school

November 2011

Invitation to visit Microsoft UK HQ in Reading to share ideas and experiences with another school on work as Digital Leaders

December 2011

Delivered presentations on use of Web 2.0 tools to PGCE students at Huddersfield University

January 2012

Took part in a professional video as part of the Microsoft Partners in Learning network working on a deforestation project (see the video here)

Our latest work

We have decided to hold our own TeachtheTeachersMeet so we can tell others about what we do and how we feel the technology can improve learning. We will also have some guest speakers sharing their views as well!
